Day 1

Cusco – Km 82 – Tarayoc – Wayllabamba (L, D)

As we greet you early this morning, after you have finished breakfast at your Cusco hotel. We then depart towards km 82, where is located our trek start point. On the way we will make a quick stop in Ollantaytambo town (2792 mts/ 9160.1 ft) lays in the Sacred Valley and remains traditional and beautiful, here we will make some las minute purchases as we also use the restroom if needed. 

Then, we will embark on a 40-minute drive to finally reach the km82 or also called as Pisacucho (2675 mts/ 8776.3 ft). On our arrival we will reunite with the rest of the team that will accompanied you during this extraordinary experience and take care of the camping equipment. When ready we will start following the same path that the Incas walked in ancient times, as we progress on the hike we will appreciate the amazing flora, fauna and archeological ruins. After walking for about 4 hours, we will approach the site of Tarayoc (2675 mts/8776.3 ft) where we will enjoy of a delicious picnic lunch having fantastic views. 

When you have enjoyed and rested to recover back your energy, we will for 2 hours more to reach Wayllabamba (2970 mts/ 9744.1 ft), a pretty village where we will encounter our luxury campsite laying. We highly recommend you to soak in a hot shower to ease the tension after the hike, and then indulge in a massage session given by our expert therapist. Then awaiting you is the dinner tent where a delicious dinner has been prepared by your excellent cook with organic and local ingredients, right before resting and enjoying of your cozy bedroom tent and sleep peacefully surrender by nature.

  • Notes: 
    • The walking sticks are not included, but if you prefer we can arrange to provide you a pair of basic poles (Standard Brand) without any charges; you just need to ask in advance to your travel specialist.
    • In order to provide you a superb personalized attention, it is vital that you send us your rooming list distribution in advance. 

Day 2

Wayllabamba – Llulluchapampa – Pacaymayo (B, L, D)

Today arise early and enjoy of a nourishing breakfast, to then continue with our hike for about 1.5-hour, while getting closer toward the Ravine of Ravine of Ayapata (3328 mts/ 10918.7 ft, you will be welcome and amazed by an ethereal forest, capture this precious moment with your camera. Our hike keeps going for 3 hours, of course we will some stops on the process as we reach Llulluchapampa (3760 mts/ 12335.9 ft). You will be welcome by a delicious lunch already served as you take into the peaceful Andean forest and witness the views of the Warmiwañusca Pass well known as the Death Woman’s Pass.

Later on, the next part of our hike starts for about 2-hours, as we finally approach Warmiwañusca Pass (4215 mts/ 13828.7 ft), walking by the stretch may be demanding, but definitely worth it, as you finally reach the Pass. After achieving this, your guide will capture fantastic pictures of you and this moment. We will rest and appreciate the beauty of Warmiwañusca for a while, before start heading towards Pacaymayo Ravine (3500 mts/ 11482.9 ft), and then reaching our campsite of the night Pacaymayo (3500 mts/ 11482.9 ft). Once there, take benefit on your accustomed hot shower and you massage treatment before you pass by your dinning tent to savor your exquisite dinner and then crown the night with a soundly and calm sleep.

  • Minimum altitude: Ayapata site – 3328 masl/ 10918.7 ft.
  • Maximum altitude: Warmiwañusca Pass – 4215 masl/13828.7 ft.
  • Distance covered: 9 kms/5.6 mls (9 hours walking approx.)
  • Difficulty: Challenging.

Day 3

Pacaymayo – Chaquicocha – Phuyupatamarca (B, L, D)

Awaking up early and refresh, as you embark on a 30-40 minute yoga session to restore your energy and be ready for today’s hike. Appreciate the gorgeous mountain as a sight and breath the clean air. Once you have finished your yoga session, indulge in a hot shower and a delightful and wholesome breakfast later as you get ready to departure for a short hike on the Runkurakay ruins direction, as we reach the place your knowledgeable guide will provide a wonderful explanation and details of this site.

On more hour walking pass until we finally reach our Second Pass of Runkurakay (3955 mts/ 12975.7 ft), on the top we will be able to appreciate the Inca Trail we have walked and what is left, a breathtaking sight without doubts. On the side a stunning lake cover by seaweed lays for us to be seen as we begin our descending for an hour. As our trek continues, we will then reach another ancient town of the Incas Sayacmarca (3585 mts/ 11761.8 ft), your guide will clear up any question you may have. As we begin our walk to Chaquicocha (3535 mts/ 11597.8 ft) where your exquisite gourmet lunch is awaiting you.

After lunch, we recommence our hike for about 2.5 hours, on a well taken care path we approach Phuyupatamarca Pass (2640 mts/ 11942.3 ft), as we keep walking we will pass by a stone tunnel, as we reach our campsite for the night Phuyupatamarca (3670 mts/ 12040.7 ft). Once again we will welcome by the extraordinary services of our team from one last time. Indulge in a hot shower and later relax and sooth with your massage session before being delighting with your dinner. As your last evening, the staff will gather and we recommend you to make a toast for the wonderful experience and hard work they have done to contribute to this. Cheers!

Day 4

Phuyupatamarca - Machu Picchu - Cusco (B, L)

This morning we will go through the last portion of the hike hoping you have enjoyed it. Arising at 4:30 am, to have the right time to warm up with a delicious breakfast and hot beverages, as we start back on the trail. We will walk for about 3 hours until we reach Wiñaywayna (2650 mts/ 8694.2 ft) meaning “forever young” is the second most well preserved Inca site after Machu Picchu, its name honors the beautiful orquides that grows in the area. We still have ahead a 1.5-hour as we make our way toward the San Gate or Intipunku in quechua (2750 mts/ 9022.3 ft), one of the most beautiful sights of the Citadel of Machu Picchu can be appreciated from above. After some minutes we will start heading down to the citadel.

After these past days building up the excitement to visit this Wonder World you will finally be at Machu Picchu presence (2430 mts/ 7972.4 ft) while strolling by the premises you will be enchanted by its beauty. During 2 hours you will be led by your knowledgeable guide as it is explained to you the history, relevant features, secrets, theories of all types of the construction and purposes of Machu Picchu; all the doubts you may have will be also cleared up. After you amazing guided visit you will have plenty of time to encapsulate this moment in fantastic photos, as you also enjoy of the citadel at your leisure. 

 After you have accomplished entirely this adventure, an exquisite lunch at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge hotel awaits you and is also part of the program. After finishing your wonderful lunch,  you have to embark the bus to regress to Aguas Calientes. The train journey takes roughly 30 minutes. Once you have arrived at the train station, our View Peru representative will be awaiting you in order to embark you in your private vehicle and take you to your hotel located in Cusco. The journey from the train station to your hotel will roughly take 40 minutes.

    • If you would like to have another short hike to experience Machu Picchu from a different perspective, for instance you can choose to hike Huayna Picchu Mountain for a great panoramic view and uncover different archaeological sites or climb Machu Picchu Mountain to enjoy this ancient wonder from the highest vantage point in almost complete solitude. Please take in mind that these hikes are unguided, require an additional cost and involve starting the hike at 03:00 am on the 4th day.
