Day 1

Welcome to the City of Kings!

Upon your arrival at Lima (5 mts/16.4 ft), you will be welcomed by our friendly View Latin America representative whom will capture the first of many lovely photos of your family in this wonderful getaway. Your hotel will be located either in Miraflores or San Isidro, the most secure and beautiful districts in Lima where you will enjoy amazing views of this colonial city and can visit the Costa verde admiring the coastal view.

At night, we had prepared a delightful and special dinner at a glamorous restaurant so you can enjoy the exquisite Peruvian cuisine and relish before your exciting trip.

Day 2

Learning and having fun at the same time

After a sumptuous breakfast at your hotel, prepare to explore the diverse Lima highlights while you spend a great time with your children. During this special tour we will observe a Pre-Colombian archaeological site Huaca Huallamarca, in the middle of the residential area, this is an adobe pyramid construction located in the heart of San Isidro district (109 mts/357.6 ft). Among the objects found there are mummies, ceramic pots from the Lima Culture, textiles, wind instruments, jars and bottles decorated with red, white and black geometric figures and jugs with anthropomorphic representations. 

Then, we will visit the Larco Museum, the best Precolombian art private collection in Peru. The Larco Museum was founded in 1926 by Rafael Larco Hoyle, pioneer of Peruvian archeology. Located in a colonial mansion of the XVIII century and surrounded by beautiful gardens where your kids can freely explore, the Larco Museum is a space that stimulates and inspires, and where you can enjoy and understand the fascinating history of ancient Peru. Also, you will have the option to choose 01 of amusing programs designed by Museo Larco, through interactive activities, challenges and games, all members of your family can explore the museum’s collection and discover fascinating stories from ancient Peru.

  • Fruits of Ancient Peru (recommended for families with children aged 3 to 6 years): Today in Peru we enjoy delicious natural products that were domesticated thousands of years ago by ancient Peruvians. Which is your favorite? Explore the Museo Larco visible storage and find it!
  • The Journeys of Ai Apaec (recommended for families with children aged 7 to 12 years): Learn about Ai Apaec, the mythical Mochica hero, who fought different creatures from the ocean and the world of darkness, in defense of the harmony of nature’s cycles.

Right after you will try a mousse made of “lucuma”, a Peruvian endemic fruit at Cafe del Museo restaurant. After relishing this delightful dessert, we will take a stroll at the Historic Downtown of Lima (UNESCO site), wandering through its most important streets to observe its architecture, monuments, etc. Finally, we will visit Convent of Santo Domingo, one of the best preserved buildings from the colonial times. The historic chapter house of the Basilica of Santo Domingo was the place where the University of San Marcos, officially the first Peruvian university and the oldest university in the Americas, began to function in the 16th century. Here we will get more adventurous by climbing its tower, to have a great view of the city. 

Once you have been enthralled by this amusing experience, it is time to have your lunch at your own (we will be glad to recommend some family-friendly restaurants) Afterwards the rest of the day is yours to explore by your own or take another activity depending on your family interests. At night, we have made reservations at one of the best restaurants in this City of Kings.

Day 3

Heading to higher destinations

Keeping on with our venture and after a singular awakening with unique amazon sounds at your lodge, you will have your final amazing jungle experience being transported back to Puerto Maldonado airport to board your flight to Cusco. Upon your arrival at Cusco (3400 mts/11154.9 ft), you will be welcomed by another of our friendly View Peru representative. Then, you will be transferred to your enchanting Cusco hotel and after you had settled, you will have the rest of the day at leisure to adjust to the altitude or wander around to explore the city by yourselves.

In the afternoon, we had ready an amusing walking tour through Cusco narrow streets, firstly we will visit the Golden Temple Qoricancha which was an important Inca shrine to various deities such as the Sun, rainbow, stars, the triple deity: lightning, thunder and lightning among others. After the Spanish conquest in the 16th century, the Dominican order built the Convent of Santo Domingo on its structures in order to culturally subdue the Incas. Nowadays, both constructions coexist in a single temple. Afterwards, we will take you to San Blas neighborhood which is also called the Cusco’s balcony because it is located on top of the Main Square. Due to its capricious topography, the houses of San Blas had to be accommodated to the narrow streets or winding slopes and each street has a different configuration. Its colonial houses hold many of the best workshops and art shops with works of the best artists in the city, as well as musicians and dancers everywhere during the diverse Cusco festivities. This fairy atmosphere has turned San Blas into one of the best places to visit for families, where you can find paintings, textiles, imagery, jewelry, ceramics, stone and wood carvings and much more!

Tonight we had prepared a delightful and special dinner at a centrally located restaurant so you can enjoy the exquisite Peruvian cuisine and gain strength for your following adventure ahead.

Day 4

Amusing local market visit and cooking classes

We understand that participative activities are a great way to strengthen family ties and create memorable experiences while learning new things, today you will enhance your family bond with this fun experience inside Cusco’s typical market. After having your breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel and leave walking towards the picturesque and cheerful San Pedro Market. On the way we will explain about the different types of street food that exist in the city such as “emolienteras”, “anticucheras”, etc.

Upon arrival to the market, we will continue with the explanation about its construction, the Inca trading system and how it continues until these days. The market offers several shopping options for local people and foreign visitors, from exotic fruit juices, cow hearts and fresh meat, traditional vegetables, herbs and flowers to chocolates, food and miscellaneous souvenirs. Then, we will proceed to tour the different market stalls, during our route we will pass through the meat area, then to the section of cheeses, breads, fruits, chocolates and coffee, potatoes, grains and spices; tasting some sample products on the way.

At the end of the tour, we will have a short time in case you want to buy something; right after, we will head to the restaurant where our chef will teach us how to prepare 2 typical dishes inspired by local products from Cusco. During this didactic class, we will learn about the recipes and ingredients that we will use on the process as well as some native products. Once you have finished, you will enjoy a savory lunch at an exclusive Cusco restaurant, later you have the rest of the day at leisure to benefit from this idyllic city.

Day 5

Meeting the beautiful Sacred Valley

The Sacred Valley is the perfect place to relax, unwind and explore with your adventurous family. The incredible scenery of the Sacred Valley will leave you breathless; from the sky high terraced mountains to the snow-capped peaks in the distance and endless colorful farmlands of different nuances which resemble beautiful paintings, you will be totally enchanted by the traditional Andean way of life!

Our first stop will be an exhibition of South American camelids, here you will interact with vicuñas, guanacos, alpacas and llamas. You will live this unique experience (especially your kids), learning more about these graceful animals, feeding them and of course taking a lot of sweet photos on the process. Then, we will continue to the impressive Pisac ruins (3300 mts/10826.8 ft) complex. In this enigmatic enclosure, you will find superimposed terraces, ceremonial baths, a residential settlement and the largest Inca cemetery (the oldest in South America). Due to its privileged location perched high up on the mountains, surrounded by ravines, agricultural terraces and the views of the Sacred Valley, make a postcard jewel. Besides this marvelous archaeological center, we will head to the colonial and picturesque town of Pisac (2972 mts/9750.7 ft) where you can meander down through its cobblestone streets and have a brief tour of the famous craft market where you will have the opportunity to chat with the locals and buy some handcrafts if you prefer, you will find handmade products made of fine alpaca fiber and some beautiful pieces of jewelry, as well as a variety of colorful typical souvenirs. 

Also, it is a fun opportunity to test your bargaining skills and practice your Spanish! After this enjoyable experience, we will head to Ollantaytambo (2792 mts/9160.1 ft) to have a delicious lunch made out of ingredients grown and cultivated locally in the Sacred Valley. Following lunch, we will move to Ollantaytambo train station. After a short train ride through rural landscapes and hedged by looming mountains, you will arrive to Aguas Calientes Town (2070 mts/6791.3 ft) and be escorted to your hotel. Once you had settled at your hotel, it’s time for a delectable dinner in this charming town. The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy and explore as you desire.

Day 6

Exploring the magical citadel Machu Picchu!

Today is the day where your dream of visiting Machu Picchu is realized! Although it is an early morning start, we have taken care of everything. Then, to begin this amazing and exciting day, enjoy a nourishing breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards, our knowledgeable guide will pick you up in order to catch the bus up to the citadel for a 30 mins ride and have the first glance over this Lost City of the Incas. Sometimes and especially in high season (April to July) we will have to be patient as the queues to go up to this World Wonder will be longer than expected, but with the help of your qualified guide and a bit of good humor there is nothing impossible!

When visiting Machu Picchu (2430 mts/7972.4 ft) you will feel the magic that still await every construction and complexes. It shows a magnificent citadel hidden on the Mountains and the vast valleys, indeed a Lost City of the Incas, our well-informed guide will teach you about the magnificent theories about the purpose of Machu Picchu, the history of its buildings and of course, about the millenary culture of the Incas. Following the tour, you have time to lose yourself in the dizzying heights and history whilst you meander along the ancient paths or find a quiet spot to enjoy the serenity of this incredible moment. When you have already accomplished your tour, a delightful lunch at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge hotel is included with our fascinating program. Following your lunch, we will return to Aguas Calientes Town where you will board the train back to Cusco.

Upon arrival, our View Latin America representative will be waiting to transfer you to your specially chosen hotel. When you are settled into your hotel, take the rest of the evening to relax and unwind at your leisure. There is never a shortage of things to see and do as you get swept up in the vibes of Cusco.

    • If you would like to take the short hike to Huayna Picchu Mountain for a great panoramic view and uncover different archaeological sites or climb Machu Picchu Mountain to enjoy this ancient wonder from the highest vantage point in almost complete solitude, then please take in mind that these hikes are unguided, require an additional cost and consult with your travel specialist as we need to check availability far in advance.

Day 7

Crossing the Altiplano from Cusco to Puno

Today’s adventure will lead us to cross the Altiplano, after you have enjoyed a delicious breakfast your, a View Latin America representative and chauffeur will be waiting for you as we will embark in a spectacular journey that will enchant you and make you fall in love of Peru even more, as we cross the large and highest plateau after the Tibet, that covers territory over Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.

During this amazing ride, we will make a few important stops the first of them will be at Andahuaylillas, at this picturesque village we will visit a chapel with common appearance form the outside but that will let you in owe once you enter. This chapel is well known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” Later we will stop by the Temple of Wiracocha one if the main gods in the Incas time, the archeological site of Raqchi. This complex is a giant construction decorated with walls measured on 92mt/302ft that will definitely impressed you. 

By the early afternoon we will stop on the way, to enjoy od a delicious lunch to then continue toward the highest point of the route, La Raya (4319masl), here you will have the opportunity to capture this moment with your camera of the never ending golden landscapes typical of the Altiplano geography. Once we have arrived at your comfortable hotel in Puno, you will have the rest of the evening for you to explore and unwind at your leisure. 

Day 8

Navigating by kayak the Titicaca Lake

We must have an early arise to be delighted by your breakfast, as we then pick you up from your hotel to take to the Esteves port to commence our adventure. Once at the port your will be welcome by your professional and certified guide, also you will be provided with the appropriate gear and equipment. 

Once everything is settle, your expert guide will give you some last instruction on basic paddling and safety, before it is finally time to hop on your kayak and start venturing in the calm waters of the Lake.  This is a fun activity where you will enjoy of the highest navigable way from a different perspective, as get immerse further inside the Lake we will have the opportunity to see the snowed peak Bolivian mountain from afar. 

As we paddle and we approach the last part of our adventure, we will head toward the Uros islands, we will witness the richness of the biodiversity of the Lake that as a whole shelters 159 different species between birds, mammals, fishes and more. During the way we will come across with a peculiar rock island that has a peculiar formation, and later on we will reach one of the famous Uros islands to learn more about their lifestyle and how they build their incredible houses and islands of totora reed only. After we have made the most of this experience we will head back to the port and then you will be transfer to your cozy hotel. 

Day 9

Crossing the frontier from Peru to Bolivia

Today, we will keep our journey to keep crossing the wide Altiplano plateau, be delighted by breakfast and once you finished, a representative will be waiting you for you to be transported toward Copacabana. On your arrival, you will need to pass immigration formalities and then we will visit the peculiar church where lays a brunette virgin, after that we must embark on a boat ride to Sun Island, known as the cradle of the Inca empire. Once there we will visit some Inca sites and fascinating lookout points. Afterwards, we will return to Copacapana to continue our journey this time to La Paz. 

La Paz is a busy city that will welcome you, as you settle at your hotel and enjoy of a free evening to enjoy and explore at your leisure. 

Day 10

Discovering La Paz

Enjoy your exquisite breakfast, at the most suitable time we will pick you up at your hotel. We will uncover more of the highest administrative capital around the world, this busy, bustling and quintessential city will surprise you. We will stroll the Witch’s Market known by their vendors offering natural ointments and remedies. 

As our tour continues, we will then visit the Plaza Murillo, the most important plaza of the city due to the building that surrounded for instance: The Cathedral, Government Palace, and National Congress. Then we will wonder around the Jaen st, passing clustered museums and more. We will then move to other side and modern La Paz, to take a glimpse of the residential areas of Obrajes, Calacoto and La Florida. 

Lastly, we will stop at the Moon Valley, and have the incredible opportunity to walk by unique monoliths. The sight is the resemblance of a dramatic painting, but in theses case it is a natural formation caused by the erosion of the mountains over the last thousands of years, and as a result they become these rock formations with peculiar aspect. We will then return to your hotel for you to have the rest of this wonderful day to enjoy at your leisure. 

Day 11

Enchanting Uyuni Salt Flats

In order to accomplished the wonderful day that we have ahead, an early arise is required. When you are ready we will take you to the airport to board the flight that will take you to the small town of Uyuni.  Of course, the Uyuni Salt Flats (3663 mts/12017.7 ft) are well known to be the biggest ones in the world with an extend of more than 10,500 square kilometers. To begin with this amazing adventure, we will firstly visit the train cemetery. This were left in 1940’ after the mining industry in Uyuni collapsed. 

Our next stop will be at Colchani a small town famous due to their locals selling salt crafted souvenirs, and because they are also located a few meters away of the wide Uyuni salt flat, once there we will have countless opportunities to capture beautiful and fun photos. As we visit different spots and make some stops on the way, we will pass by the salt pyramids, the salt hotel as we make our way toward the Incawasi Islands, this island stands out over the vast salt flat as a rock outcrop on the top of an ancient volcano, decorated fully with this giant and funny shaped cactus and rock formations that still shelter fossils, it is incredible to imagine that once it was entire covered by a lake. Later we will continue toward Coqueza to spend the night.

    • It will not be possible to accomplish this program during the rainy season since the Salt Flat is flooded with water and you cannot reach the Tunupa Volcano or visit Incawasi Island. If you will be travelling during this season, please consult with your travel specialist about the program variation for these 2 days. 
    • Please remember to bring warm clothing, windbreaker jacket, gloves and sun protection for these days (sun block, hat, sunglasses, etc).
    • In order to achieve this itinerary, you should take flight Amaszonas 300. If you prefer that we arrange the domestic flights for Bolivia portion, please consult with your travel specialist in order to have an accurate quote.

Day 12

Let’s explore a Volcano

To accomplish todays program, we must rise early, this last effort will be worth it as we make our way to witness a gorgeous sunrise over the whiteness of the salt flats, then we will return to our accommodation to enjoy and warm up with a delicious breakfast. Then we will head to check a stone animal museum, and after we will start our journey toward the Tunupa Volcano that lays beautifully decorating the endless views with its impressive presence. 

We will start a short hike, where we will encounter mummies laying on the outskirt of the volcano, they were naturally mummified while trying to hide during a volcanic eruption and could not escape scape the smoke, this must have been taking places hundreds of years ago. By the afternoon, it is time to enjoy a delicious lunch in Coquesa. Afterwards it will be time to return back to Uyuni, and have what is left of the afternoon to relax until it is time for us to take you to the airport and board your short flight to La Paz. 

Of course, once you have arrived to La Paz, a representative will be gladly awaiting you to transfer you to your accommodation to spend your last night in this city, the rest of the evening will be yours to enjoy it at your leisure.

Day 13

Farewell La Paz

After you have enjoyed of your delicious and last breakfast at La Paz, a View Latin America representative will be awaiting you at the most suitable time to transfer you to the airport for you to take your flight home.
