Day 1

Cusco – Calca – Huaran – Cancha Cancha

After enjoying a nutritious breakfast, or take your boxed breakfast for the road, your guide will pick you up to take you to your private form of transportation. Enjoy the sights as you approach Calca town (82925 mts/9596.5 ft) after 1.5 hours on the road, with a stop at the Taray Viewpoint beforehand. Make any last minute purchases at the town of Calca or simply use this time to stretch your legs.

A further 30-minute drive will take you to the beginning of the trek, located in Huaran (2966 mts/9730.9 ft), we will meet our horsemen and our knowledgeable guide us who will give us the last instructions. After walking uphill for 3.5 hours, you will arrive at Piedra Grande (3780 mts/12401.6 ft) traversing the trail of the Cancha Cancha river, where lunch will be awaiting you. After walking for 2.5 hours, we will arrive at the campsite of Cancha Cancha (3980 mts/ 13057.7 ft) and taking advantage of the breathtaking views we will enjoy lunch followed by a hot shower and then indulge into a massage treatment given by our specialist therapist using organic oils for you to relax.

Since you deserve to enjoy delicious food in Peru a delightful meal served by our high-class chefs is on the table tonight which will be serve by your waitress. Enjoy the beautiful starry sky, as well as a peaceful night’s sleep in your private luxury heated bedroom.

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate.
  • Notes: The walking sticks are not included, but if you prefer we can arrange to provide you a pair of basic poles (Standard Brand) without any charges; you just need to ask in advance to your travel specialist.

Day 2

Cancha Cancha – Pachacutec Pass - Quiswarani

After your refreshing hours of sleep, wake up and enjoy a 30-40 minute yoga sessions lead by our expert therapist, with the mystery valley as your backdrop. Today you will be challenged with the part of the trek. You will hike for 4 hours in order to reach Pachacutec Pass (4690 mts/15387.1 ft). You will witness incredible lagoons, as well as a sight into the lives of the people who live there. This is your opportunity to give the children any treats you have brought with you.

After you have enjoyed breakfast you will most certainly come across some fascinating landscapes, as we approach the pass of Pachacutec, in the area we will encounter beautiful lagoons such as Azulcocha and Suerococha. Once you have overcome this incredible milestone, we will toast champagne in order to reward you for having completed this milestone. As we reach the Pass the stunning views of glacier and lakes will be the reward, we will even be able to see some llamas! Do not miss the opportunity to capture this unique moment and the gorgeous landscapes, to crown this moment we will toast with a glass of champagne. Cheers!

 We will start descending, until we reach our perfect spot with views of Qoyalaycocha Lagoon (4140 mts/13582.7 ft to enjoy our exquisite lunch served with hot drinks to warm up. As we walk for a further 2 hours, as you approach campsite, you will take in beautiful views of nature. During the trail we will be able to witness 7 waterfalls, curious water formations as well as 7 different flows providing a natural visual spectacle. Appreciate the local way of living as you approach your last destination for the day. On arrival at the Quirwarani campsite (3902 mts/12801.8 ft) you’ll enjoy a delight hot shower and massage before enjoying dinner and falling asleep to the sounds of nature in your bedroom tent.

  • Distance covered: 14 kms/8.7 mls (8 hours walking approx.)
  • Difficulty: Challenging.

Day 3

Quiswarani – Lares hotsprings – Aguas Calientes

Enjoy breakfast on the campsite as you prepare to embark on the journey to reach the second pass. After 3.5 hours ascending, we will surpass many beautiful lakes as well as lagoons, admiring the reflection of the Sacred Mountains. Finally, we will arrive at the Huillquijassa pass (4400 mts/14435.7 ft) in order to indulge in the sight of the valleys and mountain range of Urubamba, as well as crystal lagoons and lakes. Going downhill for a further 2.5 hours, you’ll arrive in the small town of Cuncani. Admire the presence of llamas, alpacas as well as sheep as you continue on your hike. You will shortly feel the altitude descending, but the amount of mosquitos will become more apparent. We highly suggest that you bring repellent spray and use it when necessary.

Shortly arriving at Cuncani (3900 mts/12795.3 ft) we will embark in our private transportation that will take us to the hot springs of Lares (3260 mts/10695.5 ft) and enjoy a soak in the thermal bath to relieve your tired muscles (38°C/100°F). A remarkable as well as a relaxing experience.

To conclude todays adventure, we will be taken to Ollantaytambo train station in a 3.5 hour ride, to board the Expedition train by the late afternoon. The train will take about 1.40 hour to arrive into Aguas  Calientes Town (2070 mts/6791.3 ft) and then you will be accompanied to your luxury 5 star hotel (Please take in mind that the last bus to the Machu Picchu citadel is at 16:00pm. If you would like to be located in the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge then that option is available at an additional cost, due to the modification of the itinerary). After you have settle at your hotel, coordinate with your guide so that they know a what time would be appropriate to come and collect you in the morning. By the evening enjoy lunch, included with your accommodation, and get a good night’s rest in your lush room in order to be energized for tomorrow.

  • Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging.
  • Notes:
    • Train stations and train schedules are subject to availability, also due to rainy season Poroy train station is closed from January to April of each year.
    • Depending on your physical state and if you prefer to have more time at the hotsprings, you can opt to arrange a private and direct 1 hour transportation towards Lares hotsprings. Please note that there are additional costs involved for this extra service.
    • We will book a Hotel in Aguas Calientes town, if you prefer Belmond Sanctuary Lodge then there will be itinerary modifications that will incur in additional costs as you will need to arrive to Aguas Calientes very much earlier.

Day 4

Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

The day has arrived, we hope you have lots of energy to make the most of your time at the wonderful World Wonder of Machu Picchu. You will take the bus in order to breach the citadel. It is a short 30-minute journey. During the peak seasons between April to July, queues may be a little longer than usual, but think of the rewarding experience awaiting you!

You will be given an in depth tour as you wander the premises of this destination. Ask every question that you have, as your guide will be more than happy to answer. After your guided visit make the most of your free time to enjoy it at your leisure and take as many pictures as you want of this fascinating citadel. Also, if you wish to spend more time hiking, we would recommend that you take either the Huayna Picchu route, or the Machu Picchu mountain, in order to take some incredible panoramic shots of the citadel, if so please speak with your travel specialist, as these tickets need to be book in advance and have an extra coast. In honor to celebrate your time at Machu Picchu, a scrumptious lunch will be served for you at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. This is included with the program. 

After finishing your wonderful lunch,  you have to embark the bus to regress to Aguas Calientes. The train journey takes roughly 30 minutes. Once you have arrived at the train station, our View Latin America representative will be awaiting you in order to embark you in your private vehicle and take you to your hotel located in Cusco. The journey from the train station to your hotel will roughly take 40 minutes.
