Day 1

Cusco – Soraypampa - Soyrococha

With a lot of energy and excitement, you will wake up early in order to be fed breakfast prior to collecting you from your hotel in our private transportation. As we drive, appreciate the views of the magical snowcapped peaks, enjoying the simplicity of how people function within the communities as well as Mother Nature’s blessing on this part of Peru. After being on the road for 2.5 hours, we will go through Mollepata town (2803 mts/ 9196.2 ft) before arriving to Soraypampa town (3920 mts/ 12860.9 ft) 1 hour later. Upon arrival at the destination, you will be given your final instructions by your expert guide and then commence this amazing adventure. You will be provided the option to take the route to Humantay Lake, if that is something you wish to do. The hike to the lake will take approximately 3 hours, there and back. Please take into consideration that we would like you to walk faster on your return in order to reach the campsite on time. 

Amaze yourself as you spend your time through the winding valley, going up for 3.5 hours, and capturing the panoramic views of the snowcapped mountains. The Salkantay (6271 mts/ 20574.2 ft) which in English translates to “Wild Mountain”, will be our view, as well as the Humantay “Head of the Gods” (5862 mts/ 19232 ft) do not miss on the opportunity to take fantastic photos of this two majestic sights. After spending time admiring their presence, we will reach Salkantaypampa (4154 mts/13628.6 ft) and lunch will be given to us. 

Keeping with the hike for another 2.5 hours, we will settle down at our luxury campsite, Soyrococha (4480 mts/ 14698.2 ft). Enjoy a wonderful and well deserved hot shower alongside a massage by our professional therapist who will use organic oils on you that will mix perfectly with the nature surroundings, before indulging in dinner. All ingredients are sourced locally and organically, and cooked by the masterful hands of our high-class chefs. Once you have enjoyed dinner, your heated tent will be awaiting you for you to rest deeply being guarded by the glistening stars of the Andes.

  • Meals included: Snacks, lunch, tea time and dinner.
  • Notes: The walking sticks are not included, but if you prefer we can arrange to provide you a pair of basic poles (Standard Brand) without any charges; you just need to ask in advance to your travel specialist.

Day 2

Soyrococha – Salkantay Pass – Collpapampa

Enjoy a wonderful and wholesome breakfast, as you start the second day of your adventure. Today will be more challenging than your initial day as you will cover a bigger portion of the trail. To start off your hike, you will embark on a 1.5-hour walk in order to reach the pass of Salkantay (4638 mts/15216.5 ft). As we approached the Salkantay Mountain (6271 mts/20574.2 ft) we will be stunned by its impotent presence and breathtaking views, the perfect place to take gorgeous photos. To celebrate this achievement, we will toast with a glass of champagne. The celebration will be short but sweet, as we will need to continue on the wonderful trek and unfold the secret treasures it holds. If you are an experienced hiker, then you might like the idea of visiting another turquoise water lagoon famously known as Salkantaycocha which takes one hour, there and back, as it offers a stunning exclusive and isolated panorama. 

Due to the vast vegetation, there will be a large amount of mosquitos roaming the area, we recommend that you bring a strong repellent with you. Descending for 3.5 hours, we will reach our place where our savory lunch accompanied with beverages will be served at Wayracmachay (3906 mts/12814.9 ft). After lunch, we will continue to the campsite, hiking for 4 hours, where you will be abundant with a lot of flora on the path.  As we arrive our glamorous campsite of Collpapampa (2870 mts/9416.0 ft) you will be able to take a hot shower accompanied by a massage as you prepare to enjoy dinner. Go through the day with your guide, as well as share all the beautiful photos you have taken. Then ready to go to sleep, as you dream about the wonderful day ahead. 

Next, we will head to our campsite for another 4 hours, along the way we will see some interesting sites such as Andenes, where is possible to appreciate a vast vegetation of wild orchids, bromeliads and much more. By the time we reach our luxury Collpapampa campsite (2870 mts/9416.0 ft) we will enjoy the magnificent warm climate of the cloud forest. For a second time, our hot shower and massage tent will be at your disposal, after that is time for our dinner and you may want to relish on your cozy bedroom tent for a restful and soundly sleep.

  • Arrival to campsite: 17:30 pm
  • Minimum altitude: Collpapampa campsite – 2870 masl/ 9416.0 ft.
  • Maximum altitude: Salkantay Pass – 4638 masl/15216.5 ft.
  • Distance covered: 17 kms/10.6 mls (9 hours walking approx.)
  • Difficulty: Challenging.
  • Notes: Due to the length of the trail and depending on your pace and physical condition, a 20 mins. private transportation could be arranged to transport you from Chaullay to Collpapamapa campsite by your expert guide. This extra service is already included with your exclusive program. 

Day 3

Collpapampa – Lluscamayo – Playa Sahuayaco

After your refreshing hours of sleep, wake up and enjoy a 30-40-minute yoga session lead by our expert therapist, with the mystery valley as your backdrop. 

After your yoga session, treat your body to a hot shower to soothe your muscles and prepare them for a reenergizing day ahead and go through the prettiest day of the trek. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, and then embark on your 5-hour hike through some beautiful exotic scenery, as you go through the farming villages of Wiñaypoco (2650 mts/ 8694.2 ft) and later on Lluscamayo (2420 mts/ 7939.6 ft) where you will be able to appreciate their vast plantations of different kind of products such as bananas, passion fruit and more. Also you may encounter some locals on the way that you can chat with and learn about their interesting lifestyle.

Arriving at our campsite known as Playa Sahuayaco (2100 mts/6889.8 ft) where you will enjoy your gourmet lunch served by our caring staff.  After you have indulged at the delicacies served for lunch, enjoy a hot shower and relaxing massage as you embark on your private tour lead by your guide and gain knowledge about coffee plantations. Upon completing your tour, your amazing prepared dinner will be served in the dining tent.  The final evening with the crew has arrived. We highly suggest that you give them a toast and a speech of appreciation for all the things that they have done which you have enjoyed within the tour. Cheers!

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate.
  • Notes:
    • This day of the trek is not recommended for those whom are afraid of heights as there are certain portions of the path that are narrower and face to the riverside high altitude.
    • If you prefer to spend the afternoon at Cocalmayo Hot springs, then you can hire a transportation at Playa Sahuayaco, it takes 1 hour to arrive there. Also you can choose to make a zipline activity but this will require all day and you will need to depart from Collpapampa campsite. Please note that there are additional costs involved for these extra services.
    • Depending on the climate and due to its geographic location this part of the trail may be blocked due to landslides, in this case and to guarantee your security, a private 1 hour transportation will be arranged by your expert guide. Please note that there are additional costs involved for this extra service.

Day 4

Playa Sahuayaco – Llaqtapata – Aguas Calientes

The final day where you will need to embark on an early awakening, however, we pride ourselves to make sure that you have the best trek possible, therefore a succulent breakfast will be served for you at 5 am approximately, and afterwards the biggest portion of the trek comes along. Following breakfast, you will board a private transportation in order to arrive at the location of Lucmabamba (2062 mts/6765.1 ft). After 20 minutes on the road, an original Inca path will be waiting for us to uncover it and to take on the trail, as you ascend up to the Llaqtapata archaeological site (2736 mts/ 8976.4 ft) after ascending for about 3.5 hours, we could see how the area has been covered by the usual vegetation of the forest. As we reach the famous archaeological site we will be able to get a glimpse of Machu Picchu guarded by green and impressive mountains. Discover more of this ruins accompanied by your knowledgeable guide and capture beautiful photos.

We are aware that you will have most definitely developed an appetite after the hefty hike, therefore a delectable lunch will be served as you admire the beautiful backdrop of Llaqtapata Lodge Viewpoint (2570 mts/ 8431.8 ft). Homemade meals will be served, made from the finest organically sourced fruits and vegetables. The view of the Veronica Mountain in accompaniment with the Volcanota River will be there to bless your day. After enjoying lunch, commence your descent to the Hydroelectrica train station (1771 mts/5810.4 ft). You will be given the opportunity to take a short break as we continue hiking parallel to the train tracks for 3 hours in order to reach Aguas Calientes town. Do not miss taking the beautiful orchids and reach vegetation of the way. 

The end of your 4-day excursion has arrived as you reach the town of Aguas Calientes (2070 mts/ 6791.3 ft). Make the most of your rewarding hiking excursion as you enjoy the perks of your luxury 5* hotel in Aguas Calientes. (Please be aware that the final bus up to the citadel will depart at 16:00pm, therefore that is why your hotel will be booked in Aguas Calientes. If you would rather stay at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, there will be an additional price for modifying the itinerary)

As soon as you are settled at your hotel room and have coordinate with your guide the most suitable pick up time for the next day, it would be time for you to enjoy a delicious dinner (which is included with your accommodation), and afterwards a delightful resting night awaits you.

  • Notes:
    • Depending on your physical condition, it is possible to arrange a private 1.5 hours transportation from the campsite directly to Hydroelectric train station. Please note that there are additional costs involved for this extra service.
    • Also, if you prefer, you can board the standard train from Hydroelectric to Aguas Calientes train station. This service is already included with your exclusive program and please note that train schedules are subject to availability.
    • We will book a Hotel in Aguas Calientes town, if you prefer Belmond Sanctuary Lodge then there will be itinerary modifications that will incur in additional costs as you will need to arrive to Aguas Calientes very much earlier.

Day 5

Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes – Poroy – Cusco

Enjoy breakfast bright and early for your final day, your guide will escort you from your hotel so that you can catch the bus up to the citadel for a short 30-minute ride. Please be aware that sometimes and during high seasons being in (April to July) you may need to be patient prior to entering the World Wonder as the queues are longer, but your guide will do anything to keep you entertained and the idea of something incredible awaiting on the other side. As you witness the ethereal as well as powerful beauty that this Wonder of the World has to offer, we are assured that the magic of Machu Picchu (2430 mts/7972 ft) will be the icing on the cake of the entire trek. All the effort that you have had to go through the last few days will definitely be made up as you discover the amazing architecture of the Lost City of the Incas. Your guide will be there in order to describe history and make the place come to life. 

After you have accomplished entirely this adventure, an exquisite lunch at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge hotel awaits you and is also part of the program. After finishing your wonderful lunch,  you have to embark the bus to regress to Aguas Calientes. The train journey takes roughly 30 minutes. Once you have arrived at the train station, our View Peru representative will be awaiting you in order to embark you in your private vehicle and take you to your hotel located in Cusco. The journey from the train station to your hotel will roughly take 40 minutes.
